Green Ganesha with Varuna – An Elixir of Life: Celebrating Sustainability in Partnership with KSPCB
Ganesh Chaturthi is one of India’s most beloved festivals—filled with devotion, joy, and community spirit. Yet, every year, the celebrations often leave behind a heavy toll on the environment, especially our water bodies. Idols made of Plaster of Paris (PoP) and chemical-based paints pollute lakes and rivers, harming aquatic life and disrupting ecosystems.

At Varuna – An Elixir of Life, we believe that festivals should be celebrated with devotion and responsibility. This year, we are proud to launch our special initiative “Green Ganesha with Varuna” in collaboration with the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB).
🌱 What is the “Green Ganesha” Campaign?
The campaign brings together seven reputed schools across Bengaluru to educate and inspire children about eco-friendly celebrations. Through guided workshops, students will learn how to create beautiful Ganesha idols using natural clay and biodegradable materials—an activity that blends creativity with environmental awareness.
Each workshop will be led by an expert instructor, followed by a competition to recognize the most creative idols. The top three entries will receive prizes, while every child will be honored with a “Green Ganesha Champion” certificate for their participation.
🤝 Partnering with KSPCB
Our partnership with KSPCB adds immense value to this initiative. As the state’s leading body for pollution control and environmental protection, KSPCB’s involvement reinforces the importance of:
Reducing water pollution during idol immersion.
Encouraging eco-friendly practices among the younger generation.
Spreading awareness about sustainable celebrations at a community level.
Together, Varuna – An Elixir of Life and KSPCB are working to instill lifelong eco-conscious habits in children, empowering them to become ambassadors of change.
🎉 Why This Matters
Children are the torchbearers of tomorrow. By teaching them to celebrate responsibly today, we are creating a future where traditions and sustainability go hand in hand. A clay idol may dissolve in water within hours, but the message of “responsibility towards nature” will stay with them for life.
This campaign is more than just a school activity—it is a movement towards cleaner lakes, greener celebrations, and a healthier Bengaluru.
